Carpenter, of Fulton street this city. Mrs. Carpenter had been in a declince [sic] since November when she became a resident of our city, and all that skill and loving care could do proved unavailing. She was a rare woman, a kind and loving wife and mother. She leaves a large circle of friends and neighbors who mourn with her family her departure, and feel a great sympathy for the immediate family; loss irreparable. Her husband, two children, Mrs. Will Ware and John Carpenter, of Waupaca, and her aged father and one brother of Badger, most keenly feel their affliction.

Nancy M. Gray was born in Utica, N.Y., Nov. 3, 1843. She came to this place when eleven years old, and the next year settled on the farm in Badger, where her life has been spent until coming to our city. She was married to Frank E. Carpenter, Mar. 30, 1864. A daughter, Mrs. Nellie Swan, died a few months before her mother leaving a little son in her mothers care. Great is deaths mysteries; who can tell or explain its times or seasons or be ready to say the sad farewells. She died believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, that his precious blood had atoned for her, and left a glowing testimony to her faith and confidence in heavenly things her end was peace. Her funeral was largely attended, many of the friends accompanying the remains to the family burying place in Badger."4,5
